Benjamin Nelson Ahn-Hia-Ohm, which means “He knows,” in Kiowa, is a self-taught artist who began painting at the age of 5 years old.  He comes from an artistic family who nurtured his talents from a young age and he has won many prestigious awards for his art.  His father, Yellowman, is an artist and public speaker on Native American Rights, traditions, art, and history.  Benjamin Nelson grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is of Navajo, Kiowa, Taos Pueblo, and Delaware Descent.

His paintings are based on Native American imagery and themes, often drawing from his Kiowa heritage.  Many of his pieces depict active scenes of Native American life on the plains, including camps, dances, riders on horses, buffalo, hunts, and battles.
